HTML5 on YouTube

Last week I noticed HTML5 feature in YouTube was made available to the public to try. Everyone now has the option to try HTML5 video instead of relying on Flash player to playback the video.

Your web browser must support HTML5 before you can try the HTML5 video on YouTube. Safari and Chrome are among the few that support HTML5 today.

I opted and am using the HTML5 version of YouTube. I like how it doesn’t hog my processor like how Flash did.

You can try HTML5 or visit TestTube to see other interesting features on YouTube, likely to be half-baked at this moment.

Aside from video, HTML5 offers a few more interesting and useful features. An article at ReadWriteWeb summed five neat features.

PSPad

I asked Wai Phyo for a recommendation of a free text editor for Windows that support various file formats for syntax coloring, and he told me about PSPad. It’s a good and light application for various format of text editing. It supports Indonesian too! Hehe..

DreamSpark

Having access to developer tools at no cost is a good opportunity for IT students, like me :D. DreamSpark is currently available to students residing in eleven countries. Cross your finger; DreamSpark is possibly making its way to this country soon…

Who can get this right now?

Does that mean that I might not get in?
Possibly, if you are not residing in one of the countries listed, not attending an accredited university or not a member of one of the student organizations that we’re connected with. But keep checking back, as we’re working on adding more ways to verify your student status all the time.
