Empty Office

Twenty five students, including me, came to this country on early December for Overseas Internship program. Four work in bioinformatics lab, twelve in 3D animation and modelling lab, and the other nine–including me–work in the following room:

Empty office

This is the office where I and my other 8 friends having our internship at. On the day this picture was taken, all employee but us were out of the office for company’s new year party. The office was so silent with only nine of us in the big room. Those guys in the picture are my friends, standing at the other end of the room after two-hours lunch break.

Thank you

I’ll be somewhere over the Vietnam by the time this blog post is published, very likely reading Lonely Planet series of China. Hehe… I wanna thank:

  • Colleagues at the main office and partner office for tips and best wishes,
  • Flatmate and friends at block I’m staying at (yeah, all of you, from Brunei, China, Indonesia, and Malaysia too!),
  • FYP friends for best wishes, dinner, fun, and all-other-things-I’m-gonna-miss-in-January-2008,
  • Second year friends for great dinner, chit-chat, photo-snapz, and hang-outs,
  • High school friends in faraway land (those in Australia, Canada, Italy, Netherlands, US, and of course, Surabaya-Indonesia!) for encouragement and best wishes,
  • Other friends in campus, from kayaking class, infocomm club, and others I met randomly,
  • and other great friends that are in between categories above..

Huge thank you to all of you for any kind of encouragement via SMS, e-mail, phone call, tweet, facebook, friendster, other-kind-of-web-messages, and personal meet-up. :) air china

Internship and Vic

A so-so post about my days

Internship is very typical and regular, monday to friday, nine to six, staring computer screen with dry eyes and swinging mood; sudden dip when discovering bugs and problems, sudden peak when realizing lunch break or SixPM is around the corner.

I left my Vic at home muted with its screen set off and control it remotely from office’s computer whenever I need it. Uploading files, checking e-mail, iCal and Address Book.

Despite of my wild habit ‘feeding’ Vic with dozens of beta apps, this nearly-2-years-old Vic is still very healthy and able to stay up for almost three weeks! This is absolutely the strongest system I’ve ever tried.

Uptime

Last Week of September

  • english

Hello there! Just posting list of things that I did in the last week of September..

Mon 24 Sept:

Unofficially started my internship and made new friends from various Polys.

Tue 25 Sept:

Second day of ‘unofficial’ work, spending most of the time learning C# and trying to pass the test.

Wed 26 Sept:

In campus for the whole day, met many friends during internship briefing and had fun chat with them.

Thu 27 Sept:

Work and C#.

Fri 28 Sept:

Went to hospital in the morning for an appointment. Another briefing in the afternoon, this time was for overseas internship. Gotta speed up my daily language lesson to grip basic vocabularies for daily conversation.

Sat 29 Sept:

Had my eyes checked and picked a new pair of spectacles. Stay at the same blurriness level of 350 on both eyes plus an addition of astigmatism! Tadaaa..

Sun 30 Sept:

Went for blood donation with WaiPhyo. Big walk from SimLim to Funan and touching the fancy iTouch! And finally great Myanmar cuisine for dinner at Inle Restaurant. Perfect!
